I found a great article over at iThemes about WordPress cleanup and maintenance. In essence, you need to:
- Check your backups
- Cleanup your email lists
- Do a security audit
- Lock down unused areas of your website
- Optimize your post and page content (broken links, etc.)
- Check in on your social media accounts
- Check your site’s speed and make sure it’s loading fast
- Update your portfolio or about page
- Check your WordPress theme, plugin, and version updates
